How Better Photos Convert to Increased Sales for Flippers
As a flipper or reseller, your goal is to make a profit. And one of the best ways to do that is by selling items online.
But here's the thing: in order to sell an item, you need to grab the attention of potential buyers. And that's where photography comes in.
Think about it. When you're scrolling through eBay or Amazon, what catches your eye? Is it the boring, low-quality photos? Or is it the bright, clear, and engaging photos that make you want to click and learn more?
I'm willing to bet it's the latter. And that's why good photography is so important when it comes to reselling.
Not only does good photography grab the attention of potential buyers, but it also helps them imagine how the item will benefit them in their own lives. It makes the item feel more tangible and real, and it can even help build trust between you and your buyers.
According to a study by Amazon, adding just one more photo to a product listing can increase sales by up to 10%.
When reselling used items, taking good photos is even more important because potential buyers may have concerns about the condition of the item. So, here are some tips for photographing used items for resell:
Clean the item before taking photos: This seems pretty obvious but you would be surprised the amount of people that resell often that seem to over look this step. Before you start snapping photos, make sure the item is clean and free of dust or dirt. Wipe it down with a clean cloth or use a gentle cleaner if necessary.
Use natural light: Natural light is a great light source for flippers, not only because its free but because it provides even, flattering light. Try to take your photos near a window or outside on a bright but cloudy day to get the best results.
Show different angles and details: Make sure you take photos from different angles to give potential buyers a good idea of what the item looks like. Also, be sure to take close-up photos of any details or flaws. Buyers want to see the flaws, don’t try to hide something up front to get the sale because you can guarantee that they will bring it up or give you a bad review later on.
Use a neutral background: Choose a simple, neutral background for your photos to avoid distractions and make the item the focal point. A white or light-coloured sheet or a plain wall can work well.
Avoid filters and editing: While it can be tempting to use filters or edit your photos, it's best to keep them as natural as possible. Potential buyers want to see the item as it truly is, so avoid altering the colours or appearance too much.
Include measurements: I know, this can take a heap more time to measure and document each item but trust us, it’s worth it. Buyers make decisions on very few factors, its the imagery the description, the sizes and the delivery/postage times that win over buyers. If the item has specific dimensions, be sure to include them in the listing or on a photo to give potential buyers a better sense of the item's size and you will be surprised with the conversion difference.
By following these simple tips, you can ensure that your photos accurately represent the item and entice potential buyers to make a purchase.
So, if you're a flipper or reseller, I encourage you to take your photography seriously. Invest in a good camera or smartphone, learn some basic photography skills, and put in the effort to create beautiful, high-quality photos for your listings.
Trust us, it's worth it. Good photography can make all the difference when it comes to making sales and growing your reselling business.
